Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University organized Tandulanveshana – A Rice Variety Competition in their campus on 18 July 2024. The competition organized for UG and PG level students of Aviation Studies. Total of 17 teams consisting each of 6 students participated in the Tandulanveshana. The students were tasked to collect the various varieties of rice and present it the judges. Students with great enthusiasm exhibited their creatively designed table with the variety of rice showcasing both traditional and modern rice varieties. Each table included detailed information about the rice types, their origins and cultivation methods.The competition was organized by Dr. Pavithra Kumari, Dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University. The panel of judges consisted an agricultural expert and an educator who judged the Tandulanveshana based on several criteria including the presentation of their rice variety and their ability to answer questions from the judges. The event aimed to educate students about the importance of biodiversity in agriculture and the role of rice as a staple food in many cultures. By engaging students in the cultivation and promotion of diverse rice varieties, organizers hoped to instil a sense of responsibility towards sustainable agriculture practices. The aim is to create a platform for students to exchange knowledge and ideas on a variety of rice’s and about the process it undergoes.From the UG category, the first place was bagged by Soumya K, Malagi Ramesh Mallappa, Sahana, Nikitha B R, Punya M P, Vamshi from III-year BBA (Aviation Management). Second place was secured by Afnan Ahamed, Ananya J, Danica Maria Rodrigues, Mohammed Thouseek, Mohammad Adil, Mohammed Hayath Khan from II-year BBA (Aviation Management) and the third place was taken by Nireeksha, Sinchana M Ullal, Sujanya B S, Shwetha M, Rishi H C, Sanjeev Kashyap B from III-year BBA (Aviation Management).From PG category, first place was secured by Fathimath Shabna, Nazneena N A, Nishwa Majeed K, Shifa Muhammed from I year MBA (Aviation Management) and the second place was taken by Safvana, Rohit Manoj Y, Abdul Hakkeem K A, Omega Shri C H from I year MBA (Aviation Management).
