REPORT ON FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMP AT MUKKA HOSPITAL

Srinivas University Institute of Physiotherapy, in collaboration with Srinivas Hospital, Mukka successfully organized a Free Physiotherapy Camp on 28th February and 1st March 2025. The camp was aimed at addressing various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders and was conducted at the Physiotherapy Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Hospital. The event witnessed active participation from physiotherapy students, interns, postgraduates, MBBS interns, and nursing staff.Objectives of the Camp:To provide free physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients suffering from musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.To educate patients on ergonomic practices and postural corrections to prevent further complications.To offer free blood pressure (BP) and blood sugar testing to promote overall health awareness among the attendees.Participants and Beneficiaries:A total of 20 patients from in and around Surathkal and Mukka attended the camp.Undergraduate physiotherapy students, interns, and postgraduate students actively participated in the assessment, treatment, and ergonomic counselling of patients.MBBS interns and nursing staff conducted free vitals, BP and blood sugar testing for the attendees.Camp Activities:Patient Assessment: Detailed evaluation of patients presenting with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular issues was conducted by physiotherapy students under the supervision of Dr. Aishwarya Nitin Sonwane and Dr. Madhuripu P.Treatment Procedures: Various physiotherapy interventions, including manual therapy, electrotherapy, and exercise therapy, were provided based on the condition of each patient.Ergonomic Advice: Patients received guidance on posture correction, workplace ergonomics, and home-based exercises to prevent further health complications.Health Screening: Free blood pressure and blood sugar testing were conducted by MBBS interns and nursing staff, followed by necessary health counselling.Outcome and Impact:Patients experienced symptomatic relief through physiotherapy treatment and gained awareness of preventive measures.The camp served as an excellent hands-on learning experience for physiotherapy students, allowing them to interact with real patients and apply their theoretical knowledge.The event strengthened community engagement by offering accessible healthcare services to the public.Conclusion:The Free Physiotherapy Camp organized by Srinivas University Institute of Physiotherapy, in association with Srinivas Hospital, was a grand success. It provided much-needed physiotherapy services and health screenings to the local community. The event effectively fulfilled its objective of offering quality healthcare, creating awareness, and enhancing the clinical skills of students. Such initiatives play a crucial role in improving public health and should be conducted regularly to benefit more individuals in need.
