MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK (M.S.W.)

(2 year – 4 semesters programme)

Eligibility: Any graduate degree with not less than 40% marks aggregate in subjects excluding languages
Admission based on valid score in SU MSW Entrance test.
Programme is offered at Srinivas Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Pandeshwar, Mangalore, recognized by AICTE-New Delhi and Accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC.

Examination Pattern :

A. Theory Papers : Internal Marks :

Internal Marks are based on Assignments, Internal exams, Class participation/ presentation & Attendance

Semester Exam Marks :

At the end of each semester, examinations will be conducted for all the papers to be covered in that semester and evaluation will be done for 50 marks each. The timings of the examination will be followed as per academic calendar.

Pattern of Question Paper in End Sem Exam :

The question paper pattern in each Semester Exam for 50 marks consists of one long essay for 10 marks, out of two, 4 short answer questions for 7 marks each out of Six (28 marks) and 6 short notes of 2 marks (12 marks) to be answered out of 8 questions .

PERMISSIONS

(1) STATE GOVERNMENT PERMISSION:

SRINIVAS University is established as per section 22 of UGC Act, by Karnataka State Govt. with the approval of the Legislature and assent of His Excellency the Governor to promote and undertake the advancement of University Education in Technical, Health, Management, Life Science and all sectors of sciences, social sciences, humanities, and allied sectors of higher and professional education. SRINIVAS University is governed by the SRINIVAS UNIVERSITY ACT 2013, an Act incorporated and established by Government of Karnataka published as Karnataka Gazette Notification on 25/03/2013.

The Government of Karnataka, Higher Education Department vide its Final Notification No. ED 29 UNE 2015, dated. 20/02/2015 has accorded its approval for the establishment of SRINIVAS University.

  • UGC PERMISSION :

UGC has further clarified in its Status Letter No. F8-16/2015 (CPP-1/PU) dated 23/08/2015, that the Srinivas Group of Colleges have been permitted to start Srinivas University as established by the Srinivas University Act 2013 of the Karnataka State Legislature. Further they are empowered to award degrees as specified under section 22 of the UGC act.

  • AICTE APPROVAL :

As per Supreme Court Judgment, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval. As SRINIVAS UNIVERSITY is a Private University established by a State Act, it does not require AICTE approval. This standing of law is clarified by the Supreme Court in the case of Bharathidasan University Vs AICTE . A copy of Public Notice & RTI reply by AICTE and the copy of the relevant judgment are enclosed in the website www.srinivasuniversity.edu.in.

However, prior to the formation of Srinivas University, the constituent Colleges of Srinivas Group of Colleges , were affiliated to Mangalore University/VT University/RGUHS with AICTE approvals to run their Courses. Hence, they have established norms & standards laid down by AICTE.

  • APPROVAL OF ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES

Srinivas University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (Ref.No. Meet/GC/336/2015/260157 dated 15th December, 2015) so that its degrees awarded are accepted by all Universities in India and abroad (Website: www.aiuweb.org).
